What is native angadi ?

For someone who travels or treks every month, pandemic has been a very tough time. Traveling to places, listening to stories, learning their culture has always fascinated me. Photographs may remind you of the happy time you had during a vacation but a souvenir is like a time travel pill. Having a piece of art or a craft, that just not carry your memories but the entire history of its native is enchanting.
There are so many of us who are unable to travel due to various obligations but we can always collect pieces our land offers. With this in mind – we, with help of ‘The Native Angadi’, wish to celebrate local products and their native.

We are striving to bring different local products and handicrafts online and showcase them region-wise across India.

India is a diverse country, something that is visibly prominent in its people, culture and geography. From the eternal snows of the Himalayas to the cultivated peninsula of far South, from the deserts of the West to the humid deltas of the East, from the dry heat and cold of the Central Plateau to the cool forest foothills, Indian lifestyles glorify geographies. Our culture has been embracing aspects of foreign cultures over the years and currently, we live in a world where the borders are becoming hazier – goods and culture traveling across countries.

I believe that we must not let our culture and traditions wane but allow them to modify and adapt. Every new aspect of culture adopted from elsewhere should add a new taste, a new dimension to our heritage. With food, clothing, art and habits of an Indian differing in accordance to the place of origin, it’s important to understand and celebrate their native. Keeping this in mind, we are striving to bring different local products and handicrafts online and showcase them region-wise across India. I wish to narrate the origin of these products and recognize the importance of their native angadi (‘store’ in Kannada).
